• 1962	--	East China Institute of Components and Instruments for Automation, CAS , predecessor of IIM was founded.
•October 8, 1979	--	The Institute of Intelligent Machines (IIM), CAS, was founded after structural adjustment.
• 1985	--	Computer agriculture expert system was established in IIM.
• 1987	--	The first high-technology enterprise of IIM was founded
• 1988	--	IIM was relocated to the Science Island, Hefei, China.
• May, 2001	--	IIM participated in Knowledge Innovation Program of CAS.
• June, 2004	--	IIM joined CAS and became one of the most significant divisions of Hefei Institute of Physical science of CAS.
