On the afternoon of 28th, April, the seminar featuring the design of “Portable Kit for Identification and Detection of Drugs”, was held in Institute of Intelligent Machines (IIM)，Chinese Academy of Sciences. The seminar was powered by strengthening the police with science and technology project of Anhui Province. A total of 20 people from Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Science (HFCAS), Anhui Provincial Public Security Bureau narcotics Corps, Evidence identification center of Anhui Public Security Bureau as well as Anhui CAS-SAFER Technology Limited Company (CASA), attended the seminar.

Hosted by Prof. YANG Liangbao, the seminar began with a welcome speech given by director of department of Science and Technology in HFCAS -- QU Zhe. The report of this seminar, titled “Design of Portable Kit for Identification and Detection of Drugs”, was given by Prof. YANG Liangbao. He pointed out that during the past seven years, the research team in IIM has paid special attention to the drug detection.

The drug detection system was designed by IIM with high sensitivity. With the trial of Anhui Provincial Public Security Bureau narcotics Corps, and under the guidance of evidence identification center of Anhui Public Security Bureau, CASA was in charge of the optimization and promotion of the product. The whole system was presented to the provincial public security organization for trial and promoted in the whole public security organization. The system is turned out to be fast and accurate in drug detection.

In the communication round, the views and suggestions were given by the leaders of different organizations. “Due to the large-scale occurrence of new drugs, the system is of great importance in drug detection” CHEN Mingkui, the captain of Anhui Provincial Public Security Bureau narcotics Corps, said. He stressed that in the primary detection process, grounded on the real condition of Anhui Province, the Police should pay attention to the detection of methamphetamine and new-type drugs, and the database of drugs should be established as soon as possible.

CHEN Lin, deputy chief of Evidence identification center of Anhui Public Security Bureau, suggested that the database of the system should leave room for further extension, so that new drugs could be added. Section chief, PAN Wenyu, pointed that in the research and development of the system, researchers should hand in reports in written form in time, so that the related department in the Public Security Bureau could report to the superior department, which would lay the groundwork for the promotion in the market.

The seminar concluded with the speech given by the deputy director of IIM, prof. MA Zuchang. He highly praised this seminar and showed enough confidence in the application and promotion of the detection system. The successful organization of the seminar laid a solid foundation for the friendship of the concerned units and it promoted the process of the design of Portable kit for identification and detection of drugs.
